Old school Ninja game ... ?

I cannot for the life of me remember the name of this game ! I hope someone can ... It was on an old school system .. not Nintendo, I believe. It was a small grey system w/ tiny games you stuck into it (not Sega). You went thru different levels as a ninja and had ninja stars during the first level. Towards the end or the middle you turn into a wolf after beating some dude w/ a long samurai sword. One of the main graphics was a full moon ... it had a pretty cool soundtrack. Lots of lightning. You also fought w/ a whip and big sword. Please help me !! It's driving me crazy ! I remember my brother playing it and never letting me touch it. It was in the mid to late 80's -- possibly really early 90's. I know it isn't Ninja Gaiden. I should have said that .. sorry. *sigh* It isn't Shinobi either. I just researched some screen shots and it isn't right. It looked like Shinobi at first - but sadly, my hopes were crushed again.

Could be either Ninja Gaiden or Shinobi.
It sounds very much like the original Shinobi.
Sounds to me like the game "The Ninja" for sega master system. I loved that game ... OR Ninja Crusaders for the NES
