In Iga province in Japan there are still ninjutsu schools, Iga being the birthplace of famous ninja Hattori Hanzo of the Sengoku (warring states) Era. It should be of surprise if people don't know about it since that is what they do.

Yes, there are still schools that teach the art of Ninjitsu. Most in the U.S. are a "watered down" version of the True Art(no disrespect intended to any practitioners here in the States). There are still a few select schools in Japan but are extremely difficult to be accepted into, by any but locals(and darn few of those). The Art taught there is Ancient and closely gaurded to outsiders.
