Why is Orochimaru the strongest Sannin? How did he get this powerful?

Orochimaru is powerful and handsome no offense... He is the most powerful out of the three, even if he is very evil. He even fought 4-tailed Kyuubi without getting killed. That is really, something that I call guts and power. Even though Sasuke knew didn't like Orochimaru and knew he was evil, he still chose to train with Orochimaru? Why...? Because he is the best Sannin out of the three! His knowledge of jutsus is limitless... I think the only reason he lost to Uchiha Itachi is because of his sharingan and his dreaded genjutsu. But in terms of knowledge and ninjutsu, Orochimaru is stronger than Itachi. For the record, even Sasuke didn't want to take much chances with Orochimaru, for example, he did attack him when he was sick - which was a very smart move. The only reason he lost to Jiraiya, and Tsunade is because he had no hands and was very sick. Not to mention he was figting 4 people (Jiraiya, Tsunade, Naruto and Shizune.) So what if he really acquires the sharingan? Orochimaru + Sharingan = major pwnage. No wonder he tries to acquire them by taking in painstaking and risky ways. But I am sure... that he will never acquire them! Is is my second favourite character in this whole series - My most favourite character is Sasuke! 1. I guess because he is the Sasuke of Sasukes Group. Jiraiya is the Naruto, and Tsunade is Sakura... maybe... I always thought Jiraiya was stronger. If he actually got the Sharingan, he still get his butt kicked by the Akatsuki^^

4. I think Jaraiya is just as strong as Orochimaru. He just has a hard time not thinking about girls. Sasuke only went with Orochimaru to get stronger because he knew if he stayed he would get distracted. If Orochimaru acquires the sharingan, then he will be top sannin.

Jiraiya is way stronger than Orochimaru remember in Shippuden he didn't actually fight Nine-Tailed Naruto fully through to the end Naruto was just to beserk so he really wasn't targetting Orochimaru all the time. Plus Jiraiya probably got suprised and didn't know it was going to attack him also he couldn't go all out do to the safety of Naruto. Jiraiya is as strong or stronger than both Itachi and Kisame and Orochimaru didn't put up much of a fight with Itachi in Shippuden.
